Gene Simmons’ suggestion for celebrity activists Ben Stiller and Mark Ruffalo: ‘Be quiet’

Gene Simmons' suggestion for celebrity activists Ben Stiller and Mark Ruffalo: 'Be quiet'

Gene Simmons on Celebrity Opinions

Gene Simmons, the musician and co-founder of KISS, kept quiet when asked about Hollywood’s stance on current political matters.

During a recent street interview in Beverly Hills, a TMZ reporter probed Simmons about comments from other celebrities regarding the recent bombing of Iran by the U.S.

“No one cares about your opinion,” he quipped.

Specifically, the reporter mentioned Ben Stiller and others critiquing President Trump regarding “the war issue.”

His Take

Upon being questioned, Simmons expressed his thoughts rather directly. “Yeah, because everyone in the world should listen to actors and comedians, because they’re fully qualified,” he remarked with evident sarcasm.

“Basically, shut up. Just focus on your art. No one cares about your opinion, and that includes me,” he added.

At 76, Simmons has a way of cutting through the noise. He posed a simple question: “Who do you think you are?”

Outspoken Opinions

Though he seemed to have thought about this topic ahead of time, it highlighted that, after 50 years in the business, he still has a firm grip on reality. He noted, “Americans work hard for a living. They don’t want lectures from people living in mansions and driving luxury cars. It’s time for those in entertainment to keep quiet and just create.” He expressed his lack of interest in their opinions, stating, “I don’t care.”

Simmons, whose birth name is Chaim Witts, took a jab at actor Mark Ruffalo, who is known for his progressive views. “What would Mark Ruffalo do… What does he think about politics? I don’t care,” he said, suggesting that celebrities might be better off sticking to their crafts instead of diving into political matters.

Public Statements

Interestingly, Simmons has shared his own opinions that carry political weight, notably during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he remarked, “If you’re going to walk among us without getting vaccinated, you’re the enemy.” He also urged listeners to steer clear of those who “don’t care about your health.”

KISS, formed in 1973, has released numerous albums over the years, with more than 25 million sales, making them one of the top-selling groups in history according to the RIAA.
