Federal immigration and customs agents targeted a restaurant in Washington, D.C., owned by Geoff Tracy, husband of CBS News anchor Nora O’Donnell, in a recent immigration enforcement operation.
Chef Geoff’s, a small chain led by Tracy, was among the few establishments raided on Tuesday, as reported by Fox5.
About a dozen ICE and law enforcement officials visited the restaurant around 10:30 a.m. and spent approximately 90 minutes reviewing the I-9 forms of the employees.
No arrests were made during this inspection.
In another operation, roughly nine immigration officers entered Millies, a popular dining spot, while it was serving lunch.
Throughout the day, at least seven other D.C. restaurants, including Officina, Mi Vida, Jaleo, Santa Rosa Taqueria, and Pupatella, were also inspected.
Some restaurants received prior notices about the impending I-9 checks, according to NBC4.
Others reported that they were merely informed that ICE agents would be back in a few days to conduct inspections.
