George Conway Enters Congressional Race with a New Look
George Conway, a former Republican attorney now running as a Democrat for Congress in New York, has made quite a splash with his first campaign video. Released on Tuesday, it showcases a noticeably transformed Conway. Many on social media have pointed out his significant weight loss, which some speculate may be linked to weight-loss medications. One user jokingly asked, “Is Ozempic a sponsor??” although there’s no evidence to support that claim.
Conway is stepping into a crowded Democratic primary for the seat being vacated by Rep. Jerry Nadler in Manhattan, and he aims to distinguish himself by leveraging his previous connections to Donald Trump.
A Staunch Critic of Trump
In a bold statement, Conway declared, “We have a corrupt president, an insidious president, a criminal president whose undercover agents are taking people off the streets…” He didn’t hold back as he criticized the current political climate, portraying a system that he believes is rigged.
He added, “I know how to fight these people. They are corrupt and immoral people… nothing is going to stop me.” This rhetoric seems to underline his ongoing battle against Trump, a fight he claims to have been engaged in for years.
Reflecting on His Past
Conway has shifted significantly from his conservative roots since Trump’s ascendancy in 2016. He co-founded the Anti-Trump Lincoln Project in 2019, aiming to oppose the former president. Regarding his earlier support for Trump, he remarked, “I can understand how people would be upset that I once supported Trump… but if people really listen, my views, my philosophy, my values will always be the same.” It’s fascinating to see how people’s political journeys can change over time, isn’t it?
