George Santos: ‘This red carpet will come to order!’

George Santos is no Joan Rivers.

The former congressman may have dabbled in stylish reportage, but he insists he’s a total newbie when it comes to red carpets.

“I would be remiss if I accepted the throne of a queen like Joan Rivers,” Santos told Aline. “We still have a long way to go. Joan Rivers was one of a kind.”

Santos may not have an official fashion police badge, but he’s not shy about making the occasional citizen arrest. Over the weekend, he set tongues wagging at the second annual roll call of fashion favorites and flopped at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The angry texts continued. But Santos says journalists shouldn’t know anything when they’re in the spotlight. off the record.

“Let me tell you this: The provocateur cultural commentator extraordinaire George Santos is far more relentless than the politician George Santos,” he warns. “If you want to walk the red carpet, if you want to act like a big celebrity, get ready.”

He has the sly, confident smile of a sheriff committed to cleaning up his town. “I think some people in Washington, D.C., don’t appreciate the attention that comes to what they’re wearing.”

Here at Align, the thrills are all ours. Santos was kind enough to sit down with us and talk about some of the most notable and infamous looks of the night.

Abby Phillip, CNN anchor and political correspondent

Abby Phillip was murdered. You see, not many people give credit where credit is due. I think Abby Phillippe definitely succeeded. She understood her challenges, but her only concern is that her color kind of washes her out a little bit because she’s a black girl.

That’s why many of these warm gold tones appeal to black women. But she pulled off that dress like a pro, pleats, ruffles and all. So she has to give it to her.

And she accessorized her big oversized belt with velvet accessories. Most people have decided to ditch all suede and velvet looks that tend to look cheap…

Olivia Beavers, Politico conference reporter

…and the worst dressed of the night was a political reporter named Olivia Beavers. She totally bombed. Gold is not for everyone. Here comes the problem.

The dress tapers all the way to the hem, which greatly restricts movement and flow. And the dress has no natural flow. You can see that the dress is moving, but there is no natural flow to the dress so it ripples around the body. I mean, it would have been nice if the dress had a slit, and the fabric would have had more movement. , right?

However, when you look at the hem, it looks a little cheap. The bottom is a little strange. It confuses her. she has a beautiful figure. Actually, I’ve known Olivia since she was on The Hill. She is one of the most persistent and notorious reporters on Capitol Hill.

But if you look at the elements of the shoe, it’s not the right shoe. It doesn’t help her toes or cliffhanger. It looks really cheap just assembled. You can almost tell it feels like Olivia went to Tem, ordered some ready-to-wear clothes, and then just got home and burned it. It cannot be reused.

Jackie Heinrich, Fox News White House Correspondent

Jackie Heinrich appeared in a beautiful gold dress, which was something of a failure. And I said, “If I’m going to play gold, this is how I’m going to do it.”

Just because it’s gold doesn’t mean it’s 24 karat gold. And she delivered there 24 carat gold. If I compare the carat to others, I’d say it’s 10 carat or even imitation gold.

Senator John Fetterman (D-PA)

He was a complete idiot for showing up alone like that!

He’s so inspirational that he doesn’t care what people say.

The only thing he could do was wear Adidas shorts. Because Adidas already has a natural stripe on the side. It would have been just perfect!

Therefore, there is room for improvement. But I think Senator Fetterman has done a great job.

sophia bush, actress

She used all her positive qualities. From the curvaceous silhouette to the hips and thighs. And she wore this very cinched dress.

And she added pockets to it! And I feel like, yes, she nailed it. she looks great. She seemed to feel good too, which is crazy, right? A lot of people gave me backlash about that. “No, it looks like she put all of her grandma’s old ugly earrings on her dress.”

sorry. If you think that outfit is lame, you are clearly a hater. Sophia Bush looked like a million bucks in that dress.

Kennedy, host of “Kennedy Saves the World”

Kennedy was wearing [the kind of] Take your classic dress to the gravel pit behind the barn and shoot it because, you know what I mean, there’s no real redemption.

To be honest, I was a little embarrassed. I understand that there’s an oh, oh, oh, oh-so-stupid part of her that wants to say she’s a total rebel about everything.

After a while I stopped believing in it. Frankly, I think you just don’t know what you’re doing.

Heather Podesta, lobbyist

We all know who she is, a notorious lobbyist in Washington, D.C., but she just had classic grace.

It was dignified. It was exactly appropriate. It was age appropriate. The content was appropriate for the event. The pattern, cut, and silhouette were all perfect for her.and she throws that silver fox [hair]which further enhances it.

She didn’t even look like she was trying. It was very good. So it immediately caught my attention. And I was like, oh, Heather, girl, after all these years of lobbying, we would have thought we’d see you in a tired pantsuit. You killed it.

she was amazing. She has nothing but hats off to Heather. you were amazing

lynda carter, actress

are you kidding? Linda Carter? I still think she could play Wonder Woman better than Gal Gadot.

That’s old Hollywood. That’s classic, right? It’s a masterclass in how you should look every time you hit the red carpet, and Lynda Carter never misses it. I think she can cover it with a sack of potatoes and still get it done.

Gayle King, “CBS Morning” host

Gayle King: 10 out of 10. So last year she made me a list of bad dinner outfits. She was wearing an ill-fitting pink dress. It was too short at her ankles. She had the wrong shoes and her hair was also wrong.

And Oprah went Ozempic and she took a lot of Ozempic Gayle King lost 15 pounds and looked amazing in this pastel metallic green. It looks so great.

Kristen Welker, NBC News White House Correspondent

Kristen Welker is a very beautiful woman. She has this beautiful golden skin tone. And she decided to hide it all. Ah, that’s fine. But then it’s pink. And I love pink. I mean, I love pink.

But this pink just felt too busy. There is no color contrast at the top, which results in a loss of sharpness. It also comes with a ribbon. There are also things like embroidery.

That’s just a lot. It is a high neck collar. It has fluffy sleeves. I just felt busy. This is a classic mistake: more is not always better. Less is more. And that’s something she should really consider for her next year. Because this was kind of weird to me. Oh, oh.

Sunny Hostin, “The View” co-host

The dress is also retro. I understand the concept and I understand the look. It’s built-in and structured. You can see all the stitches there. This is a dress with an elegant atmosphere. But the bottom is hard.

Due to its hardness, it ripples in the hollows. As you can see from the photo, the material is similar to jeans. If you look at the hem, you can also see the hem that has not been loosened. But it made her old.

And Sunny Hostin was so beautiful last year. Her curls were natural. She wore this beautiful flowing dress. She just looked like a million bucks.

This packaged her in a strange way. Her hair is wrong. Her appearance looks unpleasant, but it’s also not just good.

Hey, she’s in great shape. She can wear anything, but it doesn’t necessarily enhance her. This obviously did nothing to elevate Sunny Hostin.

It’s a shame because I was looking forward to seeing what she would wear this year. This was worn by Victoria Beckham of the Spice Girls, Posh Spice, in 1995.

Juju Chan, “Nightline” co-anchor

Juju Chan is beautiful, isn’t she? she is a beautiful woman. She’s an ABC legend. Its her entire costume, and there are no redeemable parts of her costume. You won’t wear that dress anywhere.

That shawl won’t work anywhere. That bag is really bad. The shoes are terrible. I say it’s like hard work, beautiful hair and makeup. And the earrings as an accessory are wonderful. The whole costume, none of those clothes work alone, none of them work together.

She stumbles into a thrift store and says that’s enough because it looks vintage, old, outdated, and ugly.

And this is really very ugly to me. I don’t understand how such a beautiful woman can wear such a messed up outfit and fail.

Everything is too busy, everything is flashy. There are tassels, there are tassel bags, and there are shoes that look like grandma’s slippers. This is a beautiful woman. She should have appeared with a more impressive look, but unfortunately, Juju Chan really exploded on this year’s red carpet.

Coco Rocha, model

Let me be clear: this place is beautiful. And Coco has won far more than she has lost than I’ve ever seen her win.

[But] This particular dress gives her a weird ergonomic shape, almost making her body two layers that separate it.

And frankly, it lacks balance. If anything, it looks very unbalanced. I just don’t think it worked for her. She wanted to rock the runway and bring high fashion to D.C. I would like to give her an “A” for her efforts.

But girlfriend, I don’t think this was Paris.I don’t think this was New York, much less Washington DC.

Getty Images/Paul Morigi

Alyssa Farrah Griffin, co-host of “The View”

This dress is not Alyssa Farrar’s. Frankly, when you look at the dress, it looks like it was cropped.

It doesn’t even look like she’s actually wearing a dress. Remember when we were young and girls had paper dolls and you could fold dresses on them? That’s exactly right.

Looks like that. It doesn’t look like what you would consider normal. So Alyssa Farrar wears this structured dress. I always say Alyssa needs more structure to make sense, but this dress doesn’t.

It’s actually not a bad dress. She didn’t go through with it. Her accessories are poor and don’t suit her. It doesn’t seem to be directed at her. Maybe she works well for others, but for me this was a big mistake.

Melanie Zanona, CNN Capitol Hill reporter

CNN’s Melanie Zanona showed up in a beautiful strapless red dress, Matt, and she looked like a million bucks. So she took every part of her body and she said, this is here, this is there, this is a pose, and she worked on it. And she showed off her big beautiful arms, collarbone, and her entire chest. She looked very well put together. And this is someone I always passed by in Congress.

I’m not going to give her a second look because she’s always professional and working in both skirt suits and suit pants. And then she comes out like this. I was like, well, girl, you rocked it.

words of wisdom

If you want to make an impression on the red carpet, make sure you have good friends who will tell you the truth. If not, I’ll tell you the truth when I get to the carpet.
