Georgia court of appeals to review Trump’s bid to disqualify DA Fani Willis

The Georgia Court of Appeals has agreed to consider former President Donald Trump’s appeal of Judge Scott McAfee’s decision to keep Fulton County District Attorney Fannie Willis in the case.

Judge McAfee said in March that special counsel Nathan Wade must be fired to avoid disqualifying Willis from the Trump election interference case in Georgia. Willis and Wade are said to have had an “illicit” affair.

Mr. Trump and several co-defendants claimed that Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade had a romantic relationship before their employment, and that she derived financial benefit from their relationship. Both Mr. Willis and Mr. Wade denied these allegations.

Judge McAfee granted the defense’s appeal of the ruling, and the Court of Appeals announced Wednesday that it would hear the defense’s case to uphold Willis’ disqualification.
