A Georgia high school soccer player is accused of creating a terrorist threat to record a dis rap threatening to defeat another player.
The 18-year-old Cortes Ryles was charged last month after sharing a track on Instagram following a field scuffle with his teammate at Conaires Heritage High School last November. Fox5 reported.
The teenage defensive back warned him that he would “beat his ass” and after his parents told him not to resolve the score with physical violence he chose to record where he would rap the rap, his mother said.
“What do you want him to do? Are you going to fight back to school?” His enraged mom, Chandela McKnight, spoke of retaliation for rap songs.
“We don't teach that to our kids.”
Lyles was cuffed on campus after the parents of other students listened to the track and chose to submit fees in February.
Other obvious threats on the track included the phrase “Dop a Diss” and “I'm not sparing.”
Nachez Lyles, a teenage father, insisted that his son's words should not be taken literally.
“It's the same as the situation with Kendrick Lamar and Drake,” he said, referring to the long-term feud between the two rappers.
“The complete consensus was 'Oh, Kendrick Body Drake', so it was awful to be mentioned in the song and translated into something literal. ”
The teen was hit with misdemeanor charges of threats and committing acts.
It was not immediately clear that he was going to face court.
