Georgia authorities on Friday released audio of a 911 call from the day of the Apalachee High School shooting.
Most of the calls regarding the Sept. 4 fatalities were from parents of students at the high school and nearby schools asking about their children's whereabouts and safety.

Barrow County's 911 call center was inundated with calls around 10:20 a.m. Many callers received an automated message saying the center was “highly busy” rather than a response from an operator.
One caller struggled to find the words to describe his daughter's account of the school shooting, saying, “My daughter called me crying. Someone was saying, 'Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.'”

An agreed-upon response given to callers that morning explained that officers were on scene but could not provide further details. Apalachee High School was immediately placed on lockdown.

All schools in the area, including nearby Yargo Elementary School and Haymon Morris Middle School, were also placed on lockdown.

According to a letter sent to the state of Georgia by the Barrow County Emergency Communications Agency, most of the emergency calls made that day cannot be made public under Georgia law because they contain “voices of minors talking or screaming.” Fox 5 Atlanta.
The attack killed two 14-year-old students, Christian Angulo and Mason Schermerhorn, and teachers Christina Irimy and Richard Aspinwall.

Colt Gray and his father, 54-year-old Collin Gray, are both being held on murder charges, with 14-year-old Colt being tried as an adult.
