Georgia Lawmaker to Look Into Fani Willis Regarding $2 Million Biden Grant

Georgia lawmakers are set to look into a $2 million no-bid grant reportedly awarded to Fulton County District Attorney (DA) Fani Willis by the Biden administration. This grant is linked to her investigation of President Donald Trump’s assertions about fraud in the 2020 election.

It appears that Willis was “invited” to seek this grant from the Department of Justice (DOJ) while the investigation into Trump was ongoing in 2022, as reported in February. Republican Georgia Senator Greg Dolezal has expressed a desire to probe the circumstances surrounding the grant. He wants to find out if it was essentially a “carrot” for Willis, considering Biden’s previous remarks about not wanting Trump to return to the presidency.

Dolezal, who is already leading a state investigation into the charges against Trump, mentioned on Just the News’ No Noise TV that understanding this connection is crucial. He referenced Biden’s November 13, 2022 statement, where Biden suggested he would use all means available to prevent Trump from being president again.

Dolezal was likely referring to Biden’s comments shortly after the November 9, 2022 election, where he stated the need to ensure Trump never regains power. On the same day, he indicated that Georgia special counsel Nathan Wade, who also looked into Trump’s activities, had a lengthy call with the White House but couldn’t recall what it was about.

Wade mentioned in a March subpoena that she didn’t remember much of her testimony before a House committee about January 6. Dolezal previously claimed that Willis displayed aggressive behavior during an extensive interrogation.

In a tweet, Dolezal described her conduct as “unacceptable,” labeling her an “unfree lunatic” and accusing her of dodging questions and using abusive language.

This grant was initiated in April 2022, and documents indicate that Willis’ office received it as the “sole source of information.” The grant was classified as “non-competitive,” meaning only one entity applied for it.

Specifically, the $2 million grant was designated for implementing initiatives under the DOJ’s Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative. It’s noteworthy that Trump had raised allegations of election fraud in Georgia earlier in 2021, pushing for inquiries into himself and his allies.

Willis has stated in a letter to Republican Governor Brian Kemp that her investigation looks into possible “incitement of election fraud, false statements to state and local governments, conspiracy, extortion, violation of the oath of office, and involvement in violence or intimidation related to election administration.”

Reports also suggest that Willis’ office collaborated closely with Biden’s Justice Department, the White House, and Democratic officials during the January 6 House investigation while managing the ongoing criminal case against Trump. As of now, there has been no response from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office regarding comments requested by the Daily Caller.
