Robbery Suspect Caught in DeKalb County Store Vent
A police dog in Georgia played a crucial role in apprehending a robbery suspect who had managed to hide inside a vent at a DeKalb County store, as reported by local authorities.
This incident unfolded on a Monday when officers from the DeKalb County Police Department’s North Central Morning Watch were alerted to a robbery in progress at Atlanta Fixtures and Sales. The store owner had seen the suspect on the roof through live video feeds.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement set up a perimeter around the area and summoned various resources, including the K9 unit and a specialized response team, alongside fire personnel.
As they searched the building, police discovered clear signs of trespassing and tampering with its heating and air-conditioning systems.
K9 Alex and essential equipment guided the officers to the suspect’s location, leading to his successful capture.
During the operation, officers also recovered burglary tools and a firearm at the site.
The suspect now faces charges for robbery and possession of a firearm during a felony. Furthermore, he had outstanding warrants in DeKalb County.
