Georgia is reportedly preparing for life without starting quarterback Carson Beck in the College Football Playoff.
Beck is reportedly considering surgical options to repair an injury to the elbow of his pitching arm, and is unlikely to return this season. A source told ESPN Thursday.
On the last play before halftime of the SEC Championship Game, Beck attempted to throw a Hail Mary, but was hit in the arm by a Texas defender as he threw it.

The Bulldogs' quarterback fell to the ground in pain and was replaced by sophomore Gunner Stockton in the third quarter.
Stockton finished 12-16 with 71 yards and one interception, replacing Beck in the second half. In overtime, the sophomore quarterback suffered a hard blow to the head and had to leave the game.
So Beck returned to the game despite his injury and handed the ball to running back Trevor Etienne, who scored the winning touchdown.
After the game, Beck said he didn't have a good grip on the ball during the play, according to the outlet. on 3.

Georgia won the SEC Championship with Beck injured, defeating Texas 22-19 in overtime, securing a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed. They will face the winner of No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 10 Indiana.
Stockton will make his first career start in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals at the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
Stockton is 25-32 and has completed 206 yards passing in three games this season in limited action.

Beck may not start in the College Football Playoff, but the senior QB's career at Georgia isn't necessarily over as he has one more year of eligibility.
Either way, Beck could forfeit his final year of eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft. The senior quarterback could try to stay at Georgia for another season or enter the transfer portal to boost his stock.
This season, Beck completed 64.7 percent of his passes, threw for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, leading the University of Georgia to an 11-2 record.
