Georgia suspect who hijacked frontloader stopped when he is flipped by another frontloader

A Georgia man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a 75,000-pound front loader from a waste management facility and leading police on a hot pursuit. He was eventually arrested after an employee at the facility chased him with another front loader and used it to flip the suspect’s car, officials said.

Eddie Sanchez, 38, was arrested and charged with trespassing and reckless driving after police said he stole a front loader from his former employer.

Gwinnett County police responded to a waste management business on Corey Road in unincorporated Norcross around 11 a.m. Saturday, where police said Sanchez, a former employee, was driving around the property in a construction vehicle. . Dashcam and body camera footage released by police showed officers and officers attempting to stop the uncooperative suspect.

In the video, a police officer can be seen asking the suspect to stop, but he does not respond. The suspect continued driving and eventually exited the property and onto a public road. He left the property and exited onto Corey Road, then onto Jimmy Carter Boulevard and onto Buford Highway, continuing on to other roads in the area.

Troopers from the Norcross Police Department and Georgia State Patrol also assisted in tracking the suspect and attempted to ensure the safety of other motorists, but did not have a large enough vehicle to stop the suspect with a front loader. Ta.

Other officers continued to pursue the suspect, but when first responders returned to the business, they spotted another large construction vehicle that was heavy enough to stop the suspect.

So the employee suggested using another front loader to track him down.

“How fast?” an officer was seen on police footage asking the unidentified employee.

Police then escorted an employee in a front loader to the suspect, who by then was several miles away.

The front loader that was pursuing it made contact with the suspect and eventually received the green light from responding officers to flip the suspect’s vehicle over.

The first front loader was disabled at Singleton Road and Robin Hill Drive, about eight miles from where it was first stolen.

Sanchez was charged with theft, theft by fleeing or attempting to flee, reckless driving, second-degree criminal damage to property, and interfering with a law enforcement officer.

He was evaluated at a local hospital before being booked into the Gwinnett County Jail.

Police learned that Sanchez, who was fired from the business in September, had visited the business a few days before the incident and committed similar acts, but never left the premises. Ta.
