We just finished our second annual challenge for 2024, Million Mile Madness. I know annual means once a year, but try telling that to Greg, Nick, and Steven. As is customary after a challenge, we will use this Saturday's selection to reflect and reflect on what we have learned. (Link to original article is embedded in the title).

Wine tasting at 35,000 feet

Speaking of award chart sweet spots and drool-worthy suites, Qatar business wasn't the only place Greg and Nick overlapped. Greg has long said that his favorite airline to fly on (so far) is the Etihad First Class Apartment. Calling this suite a “seat” doesn't say it enough. The suite is larger than some New York apartments and includes both a recliner and a chaise lounge that folds out into a separate bed.

Greg and Nick took the Etihad Apartments between Abu Dhabi and Paris (but in the opposite direction) and they both really enjoyed it. But as a wine lover, I was especially impressed that Greg converted his suite into a wine tasting room complete with multi-course tasting room. Were these guys really working?

How to get warm and delicious butter on economy flights

Last but certainly not least is our good buddy Stephen Pepper. He survived the SAS challenge at a fraction of the cost of Nick and Greg (no surprise there). But Stephen wasn't just sitting in the back of the plane for fun. He was dropping important knowledge. Perhaps my favorite pepper play of the entire challenge was how to handle the rock-hard butter that is served with in-flight meals on every airline. I've long wondered about that cold feel and how to keep dinner rolls from breaking while using them. But Stephen has his own simple and elegant solution. wonderful!
