Trump Campaigns in Oklahoma, Faces Weather Delays
President Donald Trump has been actively campaigning ahead of the midterm elections, making his way from Texas to Oklahoma in a motorcade to support several Republican candidates.
On Thursday, he addressed his Oklahoma supporters, explaining that bad weather had caused a delay, which meant his team had to rely on cars instead of flying.
“To the Great People of Oklahoma, stay tuned — I’ll be there soon!” he shared on Truth Social. “There was a major weather delay causing our planes and helicopters to be unable to land, so we’re driving up from Texas.”
“They wanted me to postpone the event, and I said, ‘NO WAY, I’M GOING TO OKLAHOMA!’” he continued. “’The Beast’ is going faster than it has ever gone before. It won’t be long. I love you all!”
“The Beast” refers to the presidential limousine, a specially made armored Cadillac. It made the nearly 90-mile trip from Denton, Texas, to Durant, Oklahoma.
At the beginning of his speech, Trump recounted how his team had warned him about canceling the Oklahoma event due to the weather. They mentioned that driving would take time, prompting him to ask about the limousine’s speed.
“They said, ‘We could go close to 100 miles an hour.’ I said, ‘Get your asses in that car. We’re going to Oklahoma,’” Trump reminisced, which drew loud cheers from the crowd.
While en route, a reporter confirmed that their press van had reached nearly 98 mph.
Trump urged Oklahoma voters to elect Representative Kevin Hern to fill the Senate seat of Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin and to choose former state senator Mike Mazzei as governor. He emphasized the importance of preventing the Democrat Party from regaining control.
“Less than two years ago, the radical left Democrats handed us the dark age of America, and we quickly turned it into the golden age of America,” Trump asserted.
“Under Republican leadership, real household incomes have surged to the highest level ever recorded,” he added. “Since I took office, we’ve created more than a million private sector jobs. And more Americans are employed today than ever before in history.”
Trump reminded the audience of a promise made during the recent Republican Midterm Convention: if the GOP gains a majority in both the Senate and the House, he intends to distribute $5,000 checks to every adult U.S. citizen. He explained that this would be feasible due to the investments his administration secured from foreign entities and corporations.
“This is approximately $1 trillion, but we have a record-setting $21 trillion coming in through investors. … So, when you hear that, $1 trillion is really very little,” he noted.
According to the White House, these investments include contributions from major companies like Apple, Meta, NVIDIA, Amazon, and others.
“The choice in this election is very simple: You can vote for the radical left Democrat communists to loot your wealth … or you can defeat the Dumocrat communists and vote for more money in your pockets,” Trump stated, outlining the critical issues of the election.
He also pointed out that the Democrats are running a self-proclaimed socialist, N’Kiyla Thomas, against Hern.
Trump cautioned that Thomas “wants to abolish ICE, eliminate capitalism, raise your taxes … and destroy the Oklahoma way of life.”
“On election night, Oklahoma is going to prove that America does not belong to those who hate it,” Trump declared. “America belongs to those who love it.”
During his speech, he expressed gratitude for the support he has received from Oklahoma voters, recalling his victories in all 77 counties in the past three presidential elections.
Trump also endorsed State Auditor Cindy Byrd for Oklahoma state treasurer, T.W. Shannon for lieutenant governor, and Representatives Frank Lucas, Josh Brecheen, and Tom Cole for the U.S. House.
