Giannis Antetokounmpo's potential team options: Knicks and Spurs are in the mix with a possible trade from the Bucks.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches on February 5th, the future of Giannis Antetokounmpo remains uncertain. There’s a lot of speculation about where the Bucks’ standout player will end up.

Despite ongoing trade discussions, a prediction market suggests that Milwaukee is still the most likely team for Antetokounmpo to be with on that day. Current estimates indicate a 29% chance that he will remain with the Bucks.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reports that Antetokounmpo, who recently suffered a calf injury, is in talks with the Bucks about his future. A decision is expected soon, as discussions revolve around whether he should stay or consider a move to another team.

The Knicks are viewed as the leading contenders to acquire the two-time MVP, with a 28% likelihood of a significant trade. There’s been mutual interest in Antetokounmpo since last summer, making this scenario seem plausible. Following close behind are the Spurs, at 15%, where a collaboration with Victor Wembanyama could create one of the most formidable big man combinations in NBA history.

Other teams like the Hawks (9%), Rockets (7%), and Heat (6%) also have a small chance of making a move for Antetokounmpo. Interestingly, since the trade market opened up, over $277,000 has been wagered on potential outcomes.

The Bucks, who started strong at 4-1, have seen a decline recently, losing 12 of their last 17 games, including eight of their last ten. If the season were to end today, they’d miss out on the Eastern Conference play-in and playoffs entirely.

When healthy, Antetokounmpo has been an MVP-caliber player this season, averaging 30.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, and 6.4 assists while shooting an impressive 64%. However, after missing six games already, he’s anticipated to stay sidelined for two to four weeks due to his calf strain.
