Giants declare Jaxson Dart will start against the Patriots

Giants Rookie Quarterback to Start Against Patriots

The New York Giants didn’t have the best luck last week, getting eliminated from playoff contention. Still, there’s some excitement brewing for their upcoming match against the New England Patriots on Monday.

Interim head coach Mike Kafka shared on Friday that rookie quarterback Jackson Dart will take the field after passing concussion protocol. At just 22 years old, Dart has been a positive highlight in a rather disappointing season for the 2-10 Giants. He’s completed 62.7% of his passes this season, racking up 1,417 yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions over nine games. Additionally, he’s added 317 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.

Dart faced a concussion two weeks ago during the fourth quarter of a tight 24-20 loss to the Chicago Bears. He got injured while fumbled the ball after a heavy hit during a run. Before leaving the game, Dart managed to complete 19 out of 29 passes for 242 yards, along with rushing for 66 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

He missed the next two games, during which Jameis Winston stepped in as the starter. Unfortunately, the Giants couldn’t secure a win, losing both games while Winston played admirably, completing 56.9% of his passes for a total of 567 yards and two touchdowns. Interestingly, in one of the more creative plays this season, he also managed to score a touchdown himself.

As for the Patriots, they are currently sitting at 10-2 and hold the No. 1 spot in the AFC. This means Dart will get the chance to disrupt their winning streak in what should be quite the show on Monday.
