At one point, they “leave it and don't hold back the stone” and the Giants actually discover a veteran quarterback and sign the roster.
With that in mind, the Giants on Tuesday welcome Jamis Winston to the team facility.
Previously, they have brought in Russell Wilson and Joe Flaco to hope that their main target, Aaron Rodgers, will choose to continue his NFL career by playing for the Giants.
Of course, the Giants' true top target was Matthew Stafford, but they couldn't keep him away from the Rams.
Winston, 31, is extremely reachable.
In his 10-year NFL career, Winston has been one of the league's most dangerous high-wire performances, often in the same game, mixing fantastical and cruelly bad throws, from one series to the next.
He has the right arm of a cannon and sometimes places the ball where he wants it.
Last season he was 2-5 as a starter for the Browns, earning 13 touchdown passes and 12 interceptions.
Winston, who played for the Buccaneers in 2019, went 7-9, all wrapped in one highlights and low-light film.
He fired 33 touchdown passes and an NFL high 30 interception of that season. He also threw for 5,109 yards leading the league. Winston has 154 touchdown passes and 111 intercepts on his NFL resume.
The Bucs made Winston the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He plays for the Bucs, Saints and Browns and is now the right-hand man for employment.
The Giants' plans are aiming to find the next franchise quarterback in next month's NFL Draft, but are concerned they won't be able to trade to No. 1 with the Titans to get a Come Ward.

It is becoming increasingly clear that the Titans are intended to be in place. The Giants have a third pick, and there is no guarantee that Chedure Sanders will be on the board. The Browns are sitting in second place and need a quarterback.
