Giants newcomer Cam Skattebo addresses WWE incident in social media post

New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skatebo used social media on Tuesday to respond to recent criticism after a physical altercation with a WWE star during Monday Night Raw at Madison Square Garden.

“If you don’t like how I’m handling tough times while trying to have a good time, feel free to unfollow,” Skattebo shared. “Since I can’t play football and enjoy life as I used to, I’m trying different things to find happiness,” he added on X.

“Enjoy your week. If you have nothing nice to say, just don’t mention me,” he concluded.

Skatebo’s involvement in the event raised eyebrows, especially as he is recovering from a season-ending ankle injury. The Giants are currently struggling with a 2-9 record.

The incident escalated when WWE’s Dominic Mysterio, embroiled in a feud with comedian Andrew Schultz, seemed to mock the Giants and their recent performance. Mysterio taunted Schultz about the New York team’s lack of championship wins, then looked at Skatebo and said, “Can you count, Cam? How many years? He doesn’t know. He can’t count.” This prompted Skatebo to attempt a punch at Mysterio.

From there, things got chaotic. J.D. McDonough joined in, yelling at the Giants players and targeting Skatebo directly. “Are you guys going to play defense for the first time this season?” he shouted. In response, Skatebo pushed McDonough to the ground, triggering a brawl that involved Schultz and the wrestlers before security intervened.

Despite the controversy, Skatebo’s rookie season saw him rack up 617 scrimmage yards—410 rushing and 207 receiving—along with seven total touchdowns over eight games.
