It is not always possible for everyone to do “OOH” and “AHH” and enact a dramatic upgrade that reminds them of the admiration that leads to high performance at this point in the offseason. Sometimes, they pan out where teams can look at certain areas and say with certainty that they can say, “We've gotten much better there.”
There's no doubt that the Giants are better at quarterback than last season. Before we start with “they couldn't get that bad,” we'll beat you to punch. Yes, his performance at quarterback in 2024 is pathetic, and setting down to a small improvement in Drek won't cut it down.
Certainly the leap forward would have been great, but the Giants didn't exactly hold the winning hand in the quarterback scenario for them. They are I'm now using Russell Wilson as my starter And Jameis Winston as their backup. Last season they had Daniel Jones and Drew Locke. What they have now is good. It remains to see how well it is seen. But definitely better. And it was almost everything they could convene, given the insufficient supply available to meet their demand.
One way to see it is: The Giants' top two quarterbacks signed a $14.5 million contract in 2025. The Colts signed Daniel Jones for $14 million over a year. The two are better than the one, and Wilson should be able to handle the attack with more Aprems than Jones ever did. Is there a chance that Wilson will be shot? His play reduced the stretch in 2024 as the Steelers lost five consecutive games. The Giants hope that Wilson's still sturdy body muscle memories will allow him to manipulate at a level sufficient to give his new team a chance to win frequently.
