The New York Giants are taking a pause from the initial excitement of the NFL season to focus on the condition of their injured quarterback, Jaxson Dart.
Dart, now in his second season in the NFL, hurt his left knee during the first series of Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams. The injury occurred on a hit in the first quarter where he was tackled both high and low, with the lower hit causing his left knee to bend awkwardly.
This particular moment isn’t a good sign as Dart was seen on the ground holding his throwing knee. However, there is a silver lining; thankfully, he wasn’t planted on the turf at the time, which allowed for more flexibility in his leg during the hit.
As a result, the likelihood of a devastating ACL tear seems to be lower than it initially could have been. Yet, there are concerns about a possible MCL injury, as suggested by a source within the NFL.
Dart was seen limping off the field, receiving initial treatment in the team’s medical tent. Several teammates anxiously gathered outside, clearly worried about their starting quarterback’s fate. Eventually, he was able to make it to the locker room with some assistance.
In the meantime, backup quarterback Jameis Winston stepped in to take over during Dart’s absence.
