Giants’ Abdul Carter Benched Again Amidst Team Struggles
New York Giants rookie pass rusher Abdul Carter, along with head coach Mike Kafka, were somewhat vague when questioned about Carter’s benching for the recent game against the New England Patriots. Carter seemed aware that missing team meetings impacted his playing time, but he kept his post-game comments rather brief.
“These things happen,” Carter told reporters when asked about being benched for the second time in just three weeks. When pressed for more details, he simply reiterated, “I won’t go into details. Things like this happen.” It was clear he was reluctant to answer further questions, which suggested a level of discomfort or perhaps frustration.
Interestingly, Kafka also wasn’t forthcoming regarding the decision to bench Carter. He stated, “It was the coach’s decision, it was my decision,” asserting that it reflected the circumstances of the week but denying any disciplinary reasons. “Unfortunately, that’s kind of how we approached it this week,” he added.
Despite missing the first two series of the game, Carter managed to record four tackles and one sack. Unfortunately for the Giants, they ended up losing 33-15, having started the first half at a 30-7 disadvantage.
The Patriots demonstrated their offensive prowess, racking up 395 total yards and converting 6 out of 13 third downs. Adding to the Giants’ struggles this season, they remain winless on the road at 0-8.
