Gilgo Beach suspect Heuermann ‘not as intelligent’ as he thinks : DA

Gilgo Beach serial killer suspect Rex Heuerman is “not as smart as he thinks he is,” a top prosecutor has said, following the shocking revelation that “blueprints” for the serial killings were found in his home.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney noted that so-called “blueprints” found on Heurman’s home computer contained numerous spelling errors.

“probably, [Heuermann] “Heuerman’s not as smart as he thinks he is,” Tierney said in an interview on “Top Stories with Tom Lamas” Thursday evening, just hours after prosecutors charged Heuerman with two additional murder counts.

“I think he identifies himself in a certain way, and his primary obsession is with seducing, stalking and murdering women,” he suggested.

Heurman, 60, appeared in court Thursday morning and pleaded not guilty to two murder charges in the 1993 killing of Sandra Costilla and the 2003 death of Jessica Taylor.

During the trial, prosecutors unveiled a “blueprint” for the alleged serial killers, including sexual torture and notes on how to clean up after the horrific crimes.

Authorities found the list in the basement of Heurman’s Massapequa Park home, which was thoroughly searched after his arrest on July 13, 2023, and then again in May.

Tierney said Thursday night that investigators will “go as far as the investigation dictates” and did not rule out the possibility of a third search of Heuerman’s property.

Mr Tierney said the plans showed Heurman’s “obsession” with crime.

Sandra Costilla was murdered in 1993.

The 60-year-old father-of-two is now charged with six murders which took place between 1993 and 2010.

Five of the alleged victims – including the “Gilgo Four,” four young women whose bodies were found along Ocean Parkway in late 2010 – were known sex workers.

After searching Heuermann’s devices, investigators found he had an extensive collection of torture pornography, including images of breast and vaginal mutilation.

Sandra Kostila, whose body was found in Southampton more than 30 years ago, had sharp force injuries to her chest and vaginal area.

Heuerman’s lawyer, Michael Brown, told The Washington Post on Thursday that his client was “surprised” by the new charges.

Brown added that the hulking architect “strongly maintains his innocence.”
