Gina Carano Speaks on Her Career Comeback
Gina Carano asserts that while she has nothing to prove, she won’t be silent about her journey. The former “Mandalorian” actress, often cited as a significant figure in discussions around cancel culture, is charting her own path to revive her career.
In a notable recent development, Carano reached a legal settlement with Disney, a significant win in her career saga. She is now preparing for a highly anticipated return to mixed martial arts, facing Ronda Rousey on May 16th.
In an interview with evie magazine, Carano discussed the shift in public perception surrounding her. Reflecting on the social media post that led to her firing, she expressed that the reactions back then felt disconnected from today’s reality. “Back then it was called a conspiracy theory,” she noted, feeling almost vindicated by the questions she had raised at the time.
Carano pointed out a growing trend where people can’t seem to ask questions or challenge narratives without facing pushback. She observed the impact this had on comedy and broader discourse, stating, “It was a wild time. It wasn’t that long ago.”
Following her settlement with Disney in August 2025, Carano’s visibility in media diminished significantly. Notably, she feels that the absence of coverage following her settlement speaks volumes, especially when comparing Disney’s public statements about her departure versus the resolution that came later. “No one is bringing this up,” she remarked, emphasizing the striking contrast in narratives.
Despite the challenges, Carano refrained from blaming the production team behind “The Mandalorian.” She expressed respect for Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau, stating that her experiences with them were more positive than the online criticisms suggested.
She acknowledged some personal struggles during her hiatus from the public eye. “I hid from the public for a long time,” she admitted, sharing her experiences with weight and food. Carano views food as a common escape, indicating that many people, like her, may use it as a means to cope.
As she prepares for her fight against Rousey, Carano discussed navigating femininity in a sport like MMA. She believes that women can embrace their femininity while being strong and powerful, asserting, “You don’t have to be like men to be powerful.”
With the settlement behind her and a return to the ring on the horizon, Carano is focusing on the future. “I feel like flowers are blooming right now,” she remarked, expressing contentment in her current life and looking forward to her goals. “This is the best I’ve ever felt.”
