On social media, Ginger Gee, who identifies herself as ABC News’ chief meteorologist and climate change correspondent, posted photos of the aftermath of what she described as a “smash and grab.”
The theft appears to have occurred in Oakland, California. Instagram and Facebook Posts about crime indicate that the location associated with the post is that city.
She said she felt the theft was a “violation” but felt sadness for those who engage in such illegal activities.
“Smash and grab was not on the bingo card…that’s for sure. I’m glad you’re safe and what you stole will be replaced…but I feel sad for the people who do this. Regardless of what circumstances lead someone to make that choice, I hope you know that in the case of crime, you stole something that meant a lot to me as well. I’m sure everything they made for me to take with me, my passport, my glasses, etc. will be thrown in the trash and the technology will be sold,” she wrote in an Instagram post. .
Apparently the vehicle was rented.
“What we learned, and what I would like to say, is that they were targeting rental cars, especially hatchbacks. It was covered and all we had to do was grab food and use the restroom, which took 20 minutes,” Gee wrote. “The car was parked across the street from a salad shop where I had stopped in between shots. It was a beautiful, sunny day around 2 p.m.”
in post Mr. Gee said in X, “The rental car shop said they only have 10 cars a day! That’s outrageous.”
