Taylor Sterling, a cross country runner at Martin Luther King High School in Riverside, Calif., qualified for the varsity team earlier in the season. It was like that until it happened stolen from her by a transgender student who transferred to the school.
There are several parents of MLK who have gone on record about this situation. fox news digital The trans athlete said her school allowed her to join and compete on the varsity cross country team, even though she had to miss practice due to schoolwork. The families are currently suing the Riverside Unified School District (RUSD).
As for Sterling in particular, he told Fox News Digital that the entire family is emotionally disturbed by this ordeal, as cross country is a big part of Taylor's life. When Taylor and other female students confronted administrators, Ryan claimed the students were told that “transgender people have more rights than cisgender people.”
“It's been said to me many times, not only by Taylor, but also by her sister,” Ryan said. “All Martin Luther King Jr. administrators have made this comment, and Riverside Unified School District's Title IX Coordinator has told multiple girls, 'As a cisgender girl, we do not have the same rights as a transgender girl. ” Our daughter is the only one, but there are several girls on campus.”
