Fundraising Campaign for Temple University Student Amid Controversy
The question remains: when will people realize that anti-Semitism has consequences?
A crowdfunding site, GivesEndgo, has successfully raised over $15,000 for students at Temple University. This fundraising effort is part of a conflict involving Dave Portnoy, the founder of Barstool Sports, and is aimed at supporting a legal battle.
The student at the center of this controversy, Mo Khan, found himself in the national spotlight after he accused Portnoy of sharing an Instagram story that featured a waitress holding a sign that read, “F*ck the Jews.” This incident took place at the Barstool Sansom Street Bar in Philadelphia.
Initially, Portnoy suggested educating Khan by sending him to Auschwitz to better understand the Holocaust. However, Khan declined that offer. As it stands, he is currently soliciting funds on GivesEndgo for his legal defense.
Jacob Wells, co-founder of GivesEndgo, expressed to Fox News Digital that his organization would be looking into the campaign closely to ensure its legitimacy.
“We aim to ensure that the campaign is as accurate as possible, which is why we have a verification team that takes these conflict reports seriously,” Wells explained. “While we don’t need to verify every detail to the highest standard, we are committed to a thorough verification process to accept campaigns on our platform.”
Khan’s appeals on GivesEndgo are intended to cover his legal expenses linked to Portnoy’s actions regarding the provocative sign displayed at his bar.
This situation is shaping up to be quite interesting… *grabs popcorn*
