Glenn Powell Weighs in on James Bond Casting
Glenn Powell, the 36-year-old actor known for various roles, recently discussed why he believes he shouldn’t be considered for the next James Bond. In an interview with Hollywood Reporter while promoting his sports comedy series “Chad Powers,” he stated, “I’m a Texan. Texans shouldn’t play James Bond.” He jokingly added that while he and his family might joke about a character like “Jimmy Bond,” it should really go to someone more suited for the iconic role.
Powell emphasized the need for a “real UK” actor to don the tuxedo, suggesting that the character should embody a quintessential British quality. “It’s someone who belongs to that tuxedo,” he remarked.
Pierce Brosnan, who portrayed 007 from 1995 to 2002, expressed a more open attitude regarding a potential return to the franchise. In a recent chat with Radio Times, he noted, “I don’t think anyone wants to see the 72-year-old Bond,” yet he would consider rejoining if director Denis Villeneuve had an intriguing vision. He added, “It could be a lot of laughs. A bald hat, a prosthetic… who knows?”
Brosnan starred in four Bond films: “GoldenEye,” “Tomorrow Never Dies,” “The World is Not Enough,” and “Die Another Day.” He mentioned that he and his wife have been closely following the developments under Amazon’s control since they acquired MGM in 2022.
During the conversation, Brosnan acknowledged the ongoing buzz around the next James Bond casting, stating, “There are a lot of great candidates out there, and I’m sure they’re going to make it a sight of joy.” It seems there’s plenty of anticipation regarding who will eventually take on the legendary role.
