Glenn Beck: NYT article unintentionally reveals the government's stealing

Government Shutdown Commentary

A recent editorial by Ezra Klein in the New York Times sparked some interesting discussions regarding the government shutdown. In it, Klein suggests that Republicans are struggling to accept that Obamacare’s health subsidies are effectively aiding many people, despite soaring healthcare costs.

Klein poses a thought-provoking question: “Why did Democrats work so hard to address their primary issue for the upcoming 2026 elections?” He points out that the dynamics of the shutdown have shifted. If Democrats win, they would likely extend the tax credits, which would alleviate a significant problem for Republicans. Conversely, if Republicans manage to let those credits lapse and win, they would have a strong weapon to use against Democrats in future elections.

Commenting on this, Glenn Beck expressed his disbelief: “This is unbelievable. I mean, they’re saying it out loud, you know what I mean?”

The editorial also inquired why Republicans can’t seem to recognize the success of these healthcare subsidies. In response, Beck remarked: “We’re essentially just putting up posts, scaffolding a structure that was never stable. The pandemic-era supports were merely propping up the weak foundation. Now, those who once claimed the structure was sound are saying the decayed wood was part of the original design.”

He emphasized the influence of mainstream media, suggesting that repeated mentions of the word “subsidy,” accompanied by melancholy music, lead many to forget what it truly means. Beck clarified that subsidies are essentially funds borrowed against the future to mask current failures arising from past choices.

He continued, “And now we’re told that if we stop borrowing indefinitely, America will fall apart. But it’s this fantasy that’s actually at risk of collapsing. Let’s be upfront about something: The Affordable Care Act didn’t fail because of Republican actions. It failed due to the unyielding arithmetic behind it.”

“I’ve been saying for a while now that the greatest political opportunity we have right now revolves around authentic health care reform,” Beck concluded. “This isn’t just another temporary fix from Washington. We need genuine reform, not more subsidies or superficial solutions. No more Band-Aids on serious issues.”
