Canada’s Euthanasia Shift Raises Concerns

Canada seems to be moving deeper into a troubling reality. In global terms, it stands out for its advancements in euthanasia, often referred to as “medical aid in dying.”

Since the legalization of MAID in 2016, the country has experienced the fastest rise in euthanasia deaths worldwide, surpassing even established programs in places like the Netherlands and Belgium. At this rate, by 2023, one in every 20 deaths in Canada could be attributed to euthanasia.

This rise is linked to the broad criteria used to determine eligibility for the MAID program. Unlike many other nations that allow euthanasia, Canadians don’t need to be terminally ill to qualify. Instead, applicants must be over 19, mentally capable, and face some intolerable condition, even if it’s psychological.

The subjective nature of this program means that some Canadians who could live longer lives are facing premature deaths. Reports suggest that MAID is being considered for those struggling to find affordable housing.

A dark aspect of universal health care is coming to light. Canada’s health system is under pressure, and euthanasia is beginning to emerge as a form of population control.

“People are being forced out of their homes. They can’t find a place to live, leading to depression. So when they speak to a doctor, they’re met with limited options and long wait times,” one observer notes.

It’s tragic that euthanasia is seen as a straightforward solution in these circumstances.

“In a government-run health care system, any shortage tends to undermine the value of life, whether at the beginning or end of the spectrum,” another commentator explains.

There’s a troubling underlying principle at play in this so-called “free” health care. “Until you’re 12, medical attention is limited. After you hit 50, treatments start being curtailed. The system tends to prioritize those who are productive and financially contributing,” he adds.

“This is precisely what’s going on in Canada, though it’s rarely acknowledged. They can’t sustain the current healthcare system, so they appear to be seeking ways to lessen the surplus population,” he concludes.

This scenario raises significant ethical questions about societal attitudes toward life.

“If life isn’t safeguarded from a legal standpoint, society risks sliding toward a troubling endpoint,” caution co-organizers of the movement.

While suicide has always been a tragic part of society, there’s a growing acceptance around it. “This path is leading to darker times,” he warns.

Canada is progressing down this concerning path. Patients are administered heparin to preserve their organs before receiving the lethal medication.

“Once the examination concludes, patients may be taken for organ removal. Canada is becoming a significant center for organ storage,” he posits.
