Glenn Beck: These poll results on Sharia law are alarming

Justin Haskins from the Heartland Institute has raised concerns about a recent survey that indicates a surprising openness among Americans towards Sharia law.

The survey included several questions about the Islamic legal system, and Haskins noted a trend: the younger the American, the more likely they are to support it.

“Twenty-one percent of all voters expressed a somewhat positive view of Sharia law, which is, well, quite radical. I mean, radical Islam is often linked with this,” Haskins mentioned during a conversation with Blaze Media co-founder Glenn Beck regarding the initial survey question.

“Younger individuals show much higher support for Sharia law,” he added.

As the survey progressed, the questions became more intense, and the responses, more concerning.

One of the questions asked was whether respondents would support a law mandating public schools to teach about the benefits of Sharia law. Haskins reported that 8% responded yes, 76% no, and 16% were unsure.

“It’s perplexing how anyone could be uncertain about that. Young people’s support for this idea was much higher: 24% of those aged 18 to 24 were in favor, while 31% of those aged 25 to 29 and about 20% of those in their late 30s shared similar sentiments. This support diminishes further—just 3% for those over 40,” Haskins explained.

The third question posed was, “If a majority in an American town, city, or state favored Sharia law, would you support a proposal to make it the legal code for all citizens in that area?” Here, 7% said yes, 83% said no, and 10% were unsure.

“This suggests a dismissal of the Constitution and a rejection of the rule of law, undermining individual liberties. About a quarter of young people indicated they’d favor that,” Haskins expressed.

The situation worsens from there, as Haskins described the next response as “astounding.” The question asked was: “What poses a greater threat to America’s future? Sharia law or the alliance between America and Israel?” A significant 43% chose Sharia law, while 25% leaned towards the alliance with Israel.

The final question was perhaps the most disheartening. It asked which religious ideology poses a greater threat to America’s future: Sharia law or traditional Christianity. Haskins noted that 55% opted for Sharia law, 13% for traditional Christianity, and 23% felt neither was a threat, which he found to be a reasonable response. Only 9% were unsure.

“This is a pretty straightforward question. It’s either neither or it’s Sharia law. But it’s surprising that anyone would say traditional Christianity,” he concluded.
