Glenn Youngkin Encourages Audience to Carry on Kirk's Legacy

Virginia Governor Honors TPUSA Founder Following Tragic Incident

Virginia’s Republican Governor, Glenn Youngkin, spoke at a Turning Point USA (TPUSA) event and urged attendees to honor the legacy of the organization’s founder, Charlie Kirk, who was tragically killed recently.

Kirk established TPUSA, a nonprofit focused on encouraging students to promote conservative values, back in 2012. During a rally at Virginia Tech, Youngkin addressed the audience, suggesting that they could be the next generation of leaders like Kirk.

Reflecting on Kirk’s impact, Youngkin expressed his wish that Kirk could have been present, emphasizing the significance of dialogue and freedom of expression. “It’s a beautiful thing,” he remarked, while acknowledging the absence of Kirk on that night.

He continued, “I’ve been asked repeatedly, ‘Who will be the next Charlie?’ Looking at all of you here, I can confidently say, you all have the potential to be the next Charlie. It’s what you take home from this event.”

TPUSA has planned events at various universities through until November. Just recently, Kirk addressed a sizable crowd at the University of Utah on September 10th. In the wake of his passing, TPUSA has named Erika, Kirk’s widow, as the new CEO and noted a significant increase in student engagement.

Since its inception, TPUSA has generated nearly $500 million in revenue and expanded its reach to high schools and universities across the country, significantly growing its staff.

Kirk was also influential in the ongoing 2024 presidential election, supporting Donald Trump as he navigated the complexities of both popular and electoral votes against figures like former Vice President Kamala Harris.
