Goalkeeper sent off punches rival as match spirals into disorder

A recent match in Spain’s second division of soccer turned chaotic when Real Zaragoza’s goalkeeper threw a punch at an opposing player during stoppage time. This incident took place in a derby against Huesca, who were leading the game 1-0 in the closing moments.

Tempers flared on the Huesca bench as Zaragoza’s Esteban Andrada had just been shown a second yellow card for pushing a Huesca player. Following this, he sprinted towards Huesca captain Jorge Pulido and landed a punch on him.

As the situation escalated, other players from Huesca restrained Andrada, while officials, coaches, and security personnel tried to break things up. In the fallout of the brawl, both Huesca’s goalkeeper Dani Jimenez and Zaragoza’s Dani Tasende were also sent off.

Real Zaragoza later issued a statement denouncing Andrada’s behavior, who is currently on loan from Monterrey, a Mexican team. The club emphasized that the incident has absolutely no place in sports, illustrating that such actions do not reflect their values or the respect and sportsmanship they expect from their players.

The statement also noted that they aspire to be a role model for young fans. They expressed disappointment at the display and committed to reviewing the events for potential disciplinary actions.

This heated match was crucial for both teams as they are fighting to avoid relegation, with just five games left in the season. Ultimately, Huesca managed to secure a 1-0 victory, thanks to a goal from Oscar Sierva.
