Golf has seen a remarkable series of major championship winners since 2024.

PGA Championship Highlights

There’s an old saying that suggests the best will ultimately rise to the occasion, and the PGA Championship stands as a prime example of that.

At the start of the tournament, the leaderboard presented a bit of uncertainty, featuring some unexpected names after Thursday’s rounds. Players like Scotty Scheffler, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jon Rahm found themselves in contention heading into the weekend, all vying for Scheffler’s third major championship title.

It’s great to see Rahm back in the mix for major titles. In recent times, names like Scheffler and DeChambeau have become quite familiar at these high-stakes events, which hinted at Rahm’s potential resurgence. Once the action moved to Quail Hollow, few bettors looked beyond Scheffler, DeChambeau, or Rory McIlroy when predicting the winner.

All three players currently hold major championships. Scheffler’s win at Quail Hollow could be his latest, but since he clinched his second Masters title early in the previous year, we’ve witnessed an impressive run from him, aiming for the sport’s highest honors.

2024 Major Championship Winners

  • 2024 Masters: Scotty Scheffler
  • 2024 PGA Championship: Xander Schauffele
  • 2024 US Open: Bryson DeChambeau
  • 2024 Open Championship: Xander Schauffele
  • 2025 Masters: Rory McIlroy
  • 2025 PGA Championship: Scotty Scheffler

Brian Harman captured the Open Championship just before Scheffler’s victory at the Masters in 2024. However, he doesn’t quite match up to the household names in this list from a global standpoint. Currently, Scheffler, McIlroy, and Schauffele are recognized as the top three golfers in the OWGR. The rankings have their flaws, especially in light of the current state of professional golf, yet they still rank within the top six of the Data Golf expert assessments, alongside DeChambeau.

Ultimately, this illustrates that the sport of golf is thriving at the moment.

On another note, the atmosphere in Oakmont for the U.S. Open is certainly something to observe.
