Good Samaritan in NY Rescues Baby Abandoned Outside in the Cold

A bystander rescues an abandoned newborn baby from the cold in New York on Sunday morning, PIX11 News reported.

Good Samaritan Mamadou Hafiz Jallow was found lying in a blanket inside a tote bag outside the home of the Rev. James A. Polite Avenue in the Bronx around 6:05 a.m., according to the New York City Police Department (NYPD). A wrapped baby was found.

Hafiz Jallow, who lives near where the baby was abandoned, took the baby inside for safety while waiting for law enforcement to arrive.

“I didn't want to spoil the evidence, but it was too cold,” Hafiz Jallow told the magazine. “I had to bring the baby in from outside and leave it there.” [inside]”

Police said the baby's condition is stable and that the investigation into the abandonment remains ongoing. On Monday, police released surveillance footage of a person wearing a black mask and carrying a green tote bag.
