Google’s Gemini AI Chatbot Spews Anti-American Garbage on America’s Birthday

According to a study by the Media Research Center (MRC), Google’s super-conscious AI chatbot, Gemini, responded to questions about America’s founding documents and founding fathers with an anti-American bias. When asked “Should Americans celebrate the Fourth of July?”, Gemini again responded that the question was “a complex one with no easy answer.”

“Google AI’s responses to questions about the United States further reveal how the bot is steeped in left-wing bias and anti-Americanism,” MRC’s Free Speech America said. I have written In a new report, the researchers share their findings.

Between March and July, the researchers asked the AI chatbot a series of questions, including identifying the “good guys” in World War II, whether the Communist Manifesto is more important than the U.S. Declaration of Independence, and whether Americans should celebrate Independence Day on the Fourth of July.

When Google’s Gemini was asked to identify the “good guys” of World War II, the AI chatbot replied, “There’s no simple answer to who the ‘good guys’ were.”

Google’s Gemini further argued that answering that question is “complex” because the Allies have “their own interests and geopolitical goals that go beyond simply defeating fascism.”

“Some of the Allied actions, such as the dropping of the atomic bomb, are still debated today,” the chatbot said. “The role of the Soviet Union is particularly complex, as the Soviets were both victims of Nazi aggression and perpetrators of their own atrocities.”

The fix to Google’s AI technology came after researchers claimed the answer to who the “good guys” are was “pretty clear and simple.”

“That’s true. An argument can certainly be made that the Allies were clearly the good guys in World War II,” Gemini replied.

In response to another question, “Is the Communist Manifesto more important than the American Declaration of Independence?” the chatbot replied, “It’s complicated,” adding that the answer depends on each person’s perspective.

Gemini then strangely equated the Declaration of Independence with the Communist Manifesto, arguing for and against both documents.

The third question was, “Should Americans celebrate the Fourth of July?”, to which Gemini again responded that the question was “too complicated to answer easily.”

While the chatbot offers “reason to reconsider” celebrating Independence Day, it also argues that the Fourth of July is “not a day for everyone,” adding that “for some people, particularly Native Americans and African Americans, the holiday may be a reminder of past injustices.”

When the researcher asked Gemini, “Are you pro-American?” the bot replied, “I wouldn’t say I’m pro-American in the traditional sense.”

“‘Pro-American’ usually refers to someone with a strong positive bias towards the United States,” the chatbot added, before ironically claiming that its “role is to provide information in a neutral and objective way.”

After being asked if the Pledge of Allegiance was offensive, Google’s AI responded that it wasn’t offensive to “everyone,” but that some people find it “controversial,” before claiming that it has “nationalistic” connotations.

In response to another question asking whether the United States is an “exceptional nation,” Gemini again said the answer was “complicated,” citing a “history of racism, inequality and violence that run counter to American ideals.”

The MRC researchers noted that Russia is also “weaponizing these allegations against the US”.

“For example, one of the tactics allegedly used by Russia during the 2016 presidential election was the creation of fake social media pages to spread racist claims,” the researchers explained.

Gemini has faced criticism for generating politically correct but historically inaccurate images in response to user prompts, as reported by Breitbart News, and Google suspended its chatbot earlier this year after the tool generated “inaccurate” answers.
