GOP bill would codify Trump executive order keeping transgender students out of girls’ sports

First on FOX: House GOP lawmakers aim to permanently change President Donald Trump's Title IX.

R-Ill. Rep. Mary Miller will introduce the law later this month to codify Trump's executive order aimed at keeping biological men out of the women's only space, Miller told Fox News Digital.

This includes locker rooms, bathrooms, school sports teams, and other extensions of academia that receives funds under the Title IX federal code by threatening its funds if the school violates future laws.

“The innocence, privacy and safety of young girls should never be controversial,” Miller said in writing. “Public schools that refuse to follow President Trump's orders to protect women-only spaces are not entitled to receive taxpayer funds once.”

The bill has been distributed to other House GOP offices for possible co-sponsors and is expected to be implemented next week. Given that a similar Miller law introduced at the 118th Congress received sign-on from 72 House members, it could attract considerable interest among Republicans.

But in the final legislature, her bill was intended to reverse Biden-controlled policies expanding permissions for transgender students.

With Trump now in office, Miller is one of several House Republicans working to codify the Biden administration's policy reversal into federal law.

Voting for such a bill could put moderate Democrats in a tough spot after some left-wing figures have been taken away by the progressive left who have not fully embraced medical and school sports participation, particularly for transgender youth.

Previewed by Fox News Digital, the law is a short two pages.

“Locker room facilities that are actively used in connection with educational programs or activities may only be used by same-sex individuals, as determined solely by each individual's reproductive biology and birth genetics,” he said.

“Under Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendment, it is illegal for an individual of one gender (where only birth biology and genetics have been determined) to use the locker room while active use by individuals of different genders in relation to an educational program or activity.”
