Kyle Hayden Rueter, a Republican who once served as Alabama Sen. Tom Butler’s campaign chairman, has been charged with the “sexual torture” and murder of a male acquaintance.
Rueter, 36, is suspected of killing Derek Franklin Walls, 54, during a “physical altercation” last week, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
