In their 2024 presidential nomination, the Republican Party is throwing all its energy into the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement, which has already been labeled by the Democrats as an “extremist” candidate.
After months of speculation, Republican presidential candidate and former President Donald Trump has announced that he will nominate Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, an ardent supporter of the former President who is aligned with the MAGA wing of the Republican Party, as the Republican nominee for 2024.
Democrats have long sought to smear Trump’s MAGA policies as “extremist,” and after Trump revealed Vance would run alongside him, Democrats have already used the argument to describe the two Republicans.

“Trump has selected far-right MAGA extremist J.D. Vance as his running mate. Vance has disowned the 2020 election, supported a nationwide abortion ban, and voted against access to IVF,” Biden-Harris HQ, the Democratic Party’s official 2024 presidential campaign account, posted on X after the announcement.
“Here’s the thing about J.D. Vance: He talks big about working people, but now he and Trump are pushing for higher taxes on middle class families and even more tax cuts for the wealthy,” President Joe Biden said in a post on X.
Former Representative Tim Ryan, a Democrat who was seen as a possible successor to Vance in the Ohio Senate election in 2022, also criticized the vice presidential candidate as “more extreme than Trump.”

“At best, JD Vance is a fake and a con man. At worst, he has extremely crazy views on women. His political policies are more extreme than Trump’s and with a record of dishonesty and opportunism he cannot be trusted,” Ryan argued in X’s post.

“I expected President Trump to choose a vice president with a reputation for always trying to find common ground,” Ryan continued. “JD is just the opposite. Democrats must act quickly to expose him.”

However, Republicans are united in their support for Trump and Vance in the 2024 presidential election and are implementing an “America First” policy.
