GOP ramps up effort in blue state amid Trump gains, activist says it’s ‘in play’

President Donald Trump benefited in several swing states in the last presidential election. Currently, one deep blue state in the northeast may have moved into the “purple” category.

“Listen to me loudly and clearly: New Jersey is playing,” Scott Pressler, founder of Early Voting Action, told “Ingraham Angle” on Monday.

Pressler, a conservative activist who works to register Republican voters, says the latest election results have fueled conservatives in New Jersey. He believes that GOPs have a real chance to invade a traditionally democratic state.

His grassroots organization, the Early Voting Lawsuit, focuses on registering new Republican voters. The catchphrase on the group's website reads “Choosing Republicans by registering Republicans,” and Pressler says the strategy is working.

“EarlyVoteAction.com is adopting a 21-county strategy,” Pressler said. “We don't just go to Essex and Camden, but we also drive voter turnout and make sure all the voices are heard,” he said.

Last November, Trump benefited in all seven battlefield states, including Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia. However, his most notable improvements have traditionally been in blue states like New York and New Jersey.

In Garden State, Trump has improved his performance by almost five percentage points, the best show for Republican presidential candidates for over 30 years.

Pressler says the growing Republican momentum has attracted the GOP's attention, and more staff and funds are expected to be directed towards New Jersey ahead of the 2025 election.

“We're going to raise more funds than ever. We'll have more staff than ever. The RNC is on board,” he said. “For my beautiful people at home, New Jersey is playing.”

The New Jersey governor race is already underway this year, with a busy area of candidates replacing the limited-time Democratic government of Film Murphy. Murphy defeated Republican Jack Ciatalelli by three more points than expected in 2021.

The last Republican to hold the office was former Governor Chris Christie, who served from 2010 to 2018. Pressler and his organization hope to change that.

“I'm here to register as many people as possible and give them the authority to vote on Tuesday, November 4th, 2025,” he said. “I'm very excited to be in the Garden State.”
