GOP Rep Beth Van Duyne Shares Insights on Preserving the American Dream at Live Event

Van Dine Discusses Economic Growth at Daily Caller Event

During a live event hosted by the Daily Caller on March 26th, Rep. Beth Van Dine, a Republican from Texas, shared her thoughts on how government can promote economic growth and safeguard the American Dream.

In a panel discussion moderated by Amber Duke, which focused on tax policy and economic opportunity, Van Dine discussed Texas’s success in attracting businesses through its low-tax environment. She also highlighted her efforts on the House Ways and Means Committee to advocate for similar policies at the federal level. Her remarks challenged Democrats to consider the advantages observed in Republican-led states.

Van Dine reflected on previous conversations with Democratic Congressman Tom Suozzi of New York about potential changes to the SALT deduction in the Revenue Code. Identifying herself as both a “born New Yorker” and “self-proclaimed Texan,” she invited attendees to visit Texas to understand the influx of companies relocating there.

She emphasized that Texas’s appeal lies in its low taxes and stable regulations. “It won’t be known as Wall Street anymore; it’ll be ‘Y’all Street,'” she remarked, suggesting that businesses prioritize growth and investment in an environment with clear, consistent rules. “If you genuinely care about your business, investing in it while reducing unnecessary regulation allows it to flourish,” she added.

Additionally, Van Dine expressed concern about how property taxes work in conjunction with the SALT deduction. She noted that while Texas may not impose an income tax, it compensates with higher property taxes, including school taxes. This creates a challenge. “We don’t want states like Texas and Florida to bear the burden for what residents in places like New York and California elect,” she stated.

When asked about the Working Families Tax Cuts Act, also referred to as the “Big Beautiful Bill,” she outlined various benefits that Americans might anticipate, particularly concerning tax cuts and increased affordability. “It’s not just about current tax reductions; it’s about investing in our children’s futures,” she said.

After the event, she underscored the significance of the Working Families Tax Cut. “I was thrilled to participate in the Daily Caller Live panel to discuss how this tax cut fosters investment, job creation, and benefits for the middle class,” she remarked. She further acknowledged a growing gap between red and blue states, citing significant financial movement toward states like Texas and Florida as people and businesses leave high-tax areas such as California, Illinois, and New York.

Panelists alongside Duke and Van Dine included prominent figures like Grover Norquist, founder and chairman of Americans for Tax Reform, and Scott Hodge, a tax and fiscal policy fellow.
