Florida Republican Rep. Bill Posey announced Friday that he will not seek re-election, joining a majority of other Republicans who are not seeking re-election.

“Being able to represent you in Congress has been the greatest honor of both Katie’s and my life. And polls show that thanks to your support I will stay in this office forever.” “We look forward to another vigorous campaign for a final term in office,” Posey said in a statement. “However, earlier this week, due to circumstances beyond my control, I was forced to suspend my re-election campaign.”

“I will do everything in my power to continue representing you through the end of this term, supporting President Donald Trump’s return to the Oval Office, and supporting former Florida State Senate President Mike, in whom I have the utmost trust and confidence. I will continue to support Haridopoulos as he takes on the fight against the swamp and replaces me in Congress,” Posey continued in a statement.
