GOP rep, congressional hopeful headline Trump’s ‘birthday party’ at campaign’s new Latino outreach center in Pennsylvania

Rep. Dan Meuser (R-Pennsylvania) and Republican congressional candidate David Winkler attended a “Grand Old Birthday Party” on Friday to celebrate former President Donald Trump’s 78th year in office.

“hoping [Trump] “I was out on the golf course this morning,” said Muether, who represents a Republican-leaning district that covers much of rural east-central Pennsylvania.

“I hope he has a great game, relaxes and now continues to relax with his family.”

The event took place at the Trump campaign’s new outreach center for Hispanic voters in Redding, a post-industrial city of 95,000 where about two-thirds of the residents are Hispanic.

The move is part of an effort to harness Pennsylvania’s growing Spanish-speaking population to turn out more Republicans this fall.

“I think Latinos want what most reasonable Americans want,” Muether said.

“They don’t want to overspend… We have to stop inflation. We have to get gas prices down to where they should be, we have to get grocery prices down to where they should be.”

The party itself was off-limits to reporters, but attendees could be heard cheering and singing “Happy Birthday” to Trump and laughing as the two congressional candidates excited the crowd.

Pork and chicken dishes and rice were also served on this occasion.

“I know Dan. [Meuser]” attendee and Pennsylvania voter Samuel Negron told The Post outside the event on Friday.

“Dan’s a good guy.”

Negron said he felt compelled to attend because inflation under Biden has made it harder to live.

He is particularly concerned about the rising gasoline prices seen under the current president.

“If the sitting president stops drilling, gas [prices] “The stock market went up, and with that everything went up except my salary,” Negron said.

Polls suggest Biden has lost support among this key demographic.

a YouGov Poll A May survey showed Trump trailing Biden among Hispanic voters by just 6 percentage points, 45% to 39%.

Friday’s event featuring Meuser and Winkler was the second this week to feature a congressional candidate. Pennsylvania Republican Senate candidate David McCormick campaigned in Reading on Wednesday with several Latino leaders.

Muether, the incumbent, spoke favorably about his potential future colleague in the House of Representatives.

“He’s got a really impressive resume,” Meuser said of Winkler, who is challenging Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pennsylvania) in a heavily Democratic suburban Philadelphia district.

“He’s committed to service, from the military to the police. He’s from this area, he loves this area and he wants to help make America stronger.”
