Florida Sen. Ileana Garcia (R) along with Democrats three weeks before Florida State University (FSU) rejected a law that allowed students to be armed in self-defense.
Breitbart News said the Campus Carry Act, SB 814, was featured on March 25th, giving Republicans the opportunity to allow college students to carry firearms on campus in self-defense.
State Sen. Randyfine (R) sponsored and published SB 814 press release Regarding the February bill, he said:
Adults should have the right to protect themselves on campus, especially after universities across the United States have chosen to protect Muslim terrorist advocates over their own students. There is no field of magical power that prevents criminals from carrying guns to campus. The bill ensures that students have the same rights on campus.
On March 26, Breitbart News reported that Garcia crossed the aisle to vote with the Democrats, killing SB 814, eliminating the opportunity for college and university students to arm themselves in self-defense.
At least six people were injured on April 17 after an individual fired a fire on an unarmed student at FSU’s Student Union.
