Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) made a plea to President Biden after he declared that the United States would not supply arms or artillery if Israel entered Rafah.
“Mr. President, the consequences of this decision will change the region and the world for the worse,” Sen. Graham said at a press conference Thursday.
Republicans argued that Biden needed to change the direction of his decision-making.
Meanwhile, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) explains how Israel must defeat Hamas in Rafah, as the group’s leaders and their last four battalions are holed up in the area. did. Cotton also said the move should be grounds for impeachment under the Trump-Ukraine standard.
“Some people are now saying that Joe Biden is doing this to get re-elected, and that’s bad enough. Also, Democrats are saying that they’re going to withhold foreign aid to help get re-elected. I must add that it is also grounds for impeachment based on the Trump vs. Ukraine standard, but that is true regarding Joe Biden.
Additionally, Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho), ranking member of the Foreign Relations Committee, noted that Israel would enter Rafah “with or without aid.” He said Biden’s decision to withhold weapons was a “terrible mistake.”
“This is unprecedented. It’s going to be monitored by our enemies. It’s going to be monitored by our allies. And it’s not helpful to U.S. national security.”
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) agreed, emphasizing that there are still Americans being held hostage by Hamas. Ernst added that Biden is “lying about his staunch support for Israel.”
“The president is a tool, folks. He’s a tool. In this case, he’s a propaganda tool. But Hamas is using him, and they’re allowing it to happen,” said Sen. Ernst.
Nevertheless, former President Donald Trump criticized Biden’s decision in a post on Truth Social the night before, claiming that Biden was “standing with the terrorists.”
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) later released a statement, referring to voters in districts with large Muslim populations who voted unopposed in Michigan’s primary, calling the situation “a deal for Dearborn.” ”
The House Republican Party The idea is strange.” I wouldn’t do that. ”
Meanwhile, White House National Security Press Secretary John Kirby said the Biden administration is “committed to helping Israel achieve its military goals,” but that it is considering alternative strategies that could better avoid civilian casualties. I repeated that I wanted it.
Republican senators have previously argued that blocking precision-guided weapons to Israel would lead to an even higher civilian death toll.
