Thursday’s impeachment inquiry focused on Lanette Phillips, the Hollywood producer who introduced Hunter Biden to lawyer Kevin Morris and art dealer Georges Bergès in 2019.

“Given Hunter Biden’s long track record of spreading influence, the committee believes that Kevin Morris’s significant financial support for Hunter Biden is a significant contribution from Joe Biden,” Comer and Jordan wrote in the letter. “We are seeking to understand whether it was intended to benefit Mr. Biden, curry favor, or gain access to Joe Biden,” he wrote to Phillips. Hunter had a business relationship with Berges through Morris, and the Republican alleges he facilitated $1.5 million in art sales, including purchases by Kevin Morris and Democratic donor Elizabeth Naftali. After Naftali purchased Hunter’s art, Joe Biden appointed her to the U.S. Overseas Heritage Preservation Commission.
