Government charges first terrorism offenses against two alleged Antifa members who assaulted ICE facility.

Charges Filed in Alvarado Detention Center Attack

Two individuals have been indicted on terrorism charges related to the attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, which occurred on July 4th. This marks a significant moment, as it’s reportedly the first time that individuals linked to the loosely associated far-left movement known as Antifa have faced federal terrorism charges in the United States.

The accused, Cameron Arnold—who uses the name “Autumn Hill”—and Zachary Evetts, are said to have been part of a premeditated assault on the facility, joining nine others in the act that left a police officer from Alvarado severely injured.

Records indicate that Arnold identifies as male but also uses a traditionally feminine name, suggesting a possible transgender identity or non-binary outlook.

Both individuals face a total of seven charges: three counts of discharging a rifle during a violent crime, two counts of attempting to kill a correctional officer, one count for trying to kill a police officer, and a final count for conspiring to assist and supply resources for domestic terrorism.

Authorities noted that a group of at least eleven Antifa members, dressed in black and wearing masks, initiated the attack by launching fireworks at the facility to distract law enforcement. This prompted a response from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The initial complaints revealed that the suspects had also vandalized vehicles belonging to agents outside the detention center, leaving messages such as “Traitor” and “ICE Pig.”

Federal documents claim Arnold shouted, “Get to the rifles!” when law enforcement began to arrive. During the assault, he allegedly fired at officers, hitting one in the neck before escaping when his weapon jammed.

FBI Director Kash Patel remarked that this incident represents a historic arrest of individuals linked to anarchistic extremism, emphasizing that this assault was a planned terrorist act. “No one gets to harm law enforcement. Not on our watch,” he asserted, noting that more than 20 arrests related to this case have occurred.

As reactions unfold, state officials are making their stances clear. Attorney General Pam Bondi referred to Antifa as a “left-wing terrorist organization” and affirmed that they will be prosecuted accordingly.

The timing of these charges is noteworthy, coming shortly after President Donald Trump signed an executive order designating Antifa as a terrorist group. The order outlines Antifa as a militant group engaging in various acts of violence and terrorism, with aims to undermine U.S. governmental authority through coordinated riots and attacks.
