Gracie Hunt’s Lavish Engagement Celebration

Gracie Hunt’s mother, Tavia, really went all out for a grand “bridesmaid proposal and engagement party” in Dallas last Friday.

Gracie, the daughter of the billionaire Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, shared glimpses of her celebratory champagne event on Instagram following her engagement to Derek Green, the son of former Chiefs quarterback Trent Green, last month.

She mentioned having 14 bridesmaids, with her sister Eva Hunt stepping in as the maid of honor. Among the bridesmaids is Janelle Greene, Derek’s sister, who plays volleyball at the University of Toledo.

Kayla Sharples, a center back for the Kansas City Currents—an NWSL team that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes co-owns—was also part of the bridal party.

Derek’s mom, Julie Green, was present at the celebration as well.

In her Instagram post, Gracie expressed her gratitude, saying, “If you look around this room, I couldn’t help but be thankful that God intentionally put each of these amazing women into my life,” referring to Austin Ride, a Los Angeles-based makeup artist and photographer.

She went on to reflect on the support she’d received: “Throughout each season, they have loved me, prayed for me, encouraged me, challenged me, and helped shape me into the person I am today. I truly am not the same without them.” It’s heartwarming, I think, to recognize how friendships can impact us.

Gracie emphasized how special it is to be surrounded by women who make her feel stronger and more grounded. “My heart is so grateful for each of these friendships,” she added.

As a former Miss Kansas USA, Gracie also took a moment to thank her mother in another Instagram post for organizing such a beautiful event.

“I still can’t forget how special this day was 🥹,” she noted. “Every detail was so thoughtful and full of love.” It seems like so much effort went into planning, which is lovely to see.

For the occasion, Gracie wore a white minidress with a silver bow from Cinq à Sept, a New York clothing brand. Her diamond necklace came from Lyles DeGrazie, a Dallas jeweler where Derek picked out the engagement ring.

The floral and event design was handled by Bella Flora, responsible for the stunning decorations and flowers.

Gracie had announced her relationship with Derek in an Instagram post the previous May. Derek previously played quarterback at Southern Methodist University from 2018 to 2021 before transferring to Long Island University in 2022. Interestingly, both Gracie and Clark attended SMU as well.
