According to reports and sources, a high school graduate and his father were slashed by a group of masked suspects outside Hofstra University on Long Island following the university’s graduation ceremony in the university’s gymnasium.
According to police and officials, the Academy Charter High School had just finished a ceremony at Hofstra University’s David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex in Hempstead around 4:20 p.m. when five suspects targeted the father and son duo.
Sources said the father was slashed in the leg and the graduate was slashed in his left ear outside the university campus.
Police sources said five people were arrested.
The suspect was wearing a mask at the time of the attack. Fox 5 New York reported..
Academy Charter said it was told by police the stabbing appears to be related to a domestic dispute.
“All individuals who entered the graduation ceremony passed through a magnetometer. We emphasize that this incident occurred outside of the graduation venue,” Academy Charter High School told Fox 5 NY in a statement.
The university said its security team worked with Nassau County Police and Hofstra University public safety officers.
