Sen. Lindsey Graham Urges Trump to Challenge Iran’s Leadership
On this week’s episode of “Fox News Sunday,” Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reiterated his request for the Trump administration to intensify efforts to dismantle the Ayatollah’s regime in Iran.
The South Carolina senator believes the situation in Iran presents a significant opportunity for President Donald Trump, likening it to a moment when former President Ronald Reagan made his mark.
“I think this is a pivotal moment in his presidency,” Graham remarked. “Reagan faced the Berlin Wall and declared, ‘Tear down this wall.’ He wasn’t asking the leaders to make it lower. When questions arose about what protesters should do, President Trump advised them to continue their protests. He said help is coming. If the current regime persists, the aftermath could lead to extensive chaos. I’m confident President Trump will fulfill his commitments. Help is indeed on the way. Keep protesting. If this regime collapses, groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis could vanish. It would mark a monumental shift akin to the fall of the Berlin Wall.”
“However, there’s something I must stress: Donald Trump embodies Ronald Reagan to me, but I fear he may risk becoming like Venezuela or Cuba. You can’t just echo Reagan’s words but act like Obama. There’s no agreement to be reached with these people. The protesters are not asking for a better nuclear deal; they’re fighting for a better life. If they succeed, it opens a door for friendship between Iran and others. The Ayatollah will never be an ally. He is a figure akin to a religious Nazi. President Trump, when you say help is coming, it must be genuine and it has to happen soon. Act on it. Since 1979, this administration has been stained by American blood.”
“You’ve dealt with the Houthis,” Graham continued. “We’ve allowed Hezbollah to attack Americans. It’s time to bring down this regime because the Iranian people want it to fall. An invasion isn’t necessary, but we should assist by targeting the infrastructure harming the Iranian citizens. We need to go after those responsible for their suffering. This regime won’t remain intact. We’re intent on constraining their economy, and in time, the people will rise. We will establish friendships in Iran. Groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis will crumble. The best action we can take for the Middle East is to topple this governing body. They’re weaker now than they’ve been since 1979. Mr. President, please take the necessary steps; it would truly reflect Reagan’s legacy.”
