Graham Platner Campaign Looking for Research Director Following Rape Allegations

Maine Senate Candidate Faces Serious Allegations

The campaign of Graham Platner, a Democratic candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maine, is currently looking for an investigator amidst new accusations that he unlawfully entered a woman’s home and assaulted her. This job posting appeared on Daybook on July 7th.

According to a report by Politico, Jenny Racicot, 41, stated that in 2021 Platner “walked into her rural Maine home uninvited one night.” She described him as “highly intoxicated,” claiming he forced himself upon her despite her multiple pleas for him to stop. “I remember him grabbing my pelvis and coming at me very forcefully,” she recounted.

The job listing for the research director position in Platner’s campaign states it offers a monthly salary between $7,000 and $11,000, determined by experience. This role requires developing and implementing a “comprehensive research and scrutiny strategy” to give the campaign the intelligence needed to compete against well-funded opponents.

The listing indicates that the ideal candidate should be highly organized, have experience in opposition research within federal elections, and possess a sharp, analytical mindset towards political strategy.

Platner has faced criticism in the past for having a Nazi tattoo and for advocating violence. A report by Breitbart News highlighted controversial statements he made in a deleted Reddit post, suggesting that those fighting fascism should be well-armed. He later expressed a change in perspective after his military service, stating he no longer believed in much of the patriotic sentiment that had driven him, but added he still possessed firearms, citing a lack of trust in fascists.

Additionally, in May, it was reported that Platner had sent explicit texts to Amy Gartner early in his marriage. EMILY’s List has criticized him for troubling comments regarding sexual assault survivors in a now-deleted Reddit post, suggesting they should “take some responsibility for themselves” and urging them to “act like adults for shit’s sake.”
