A young man and his grandmother who became friends by chance in 2016 are preparing to share another Thanksgiving at the same table.
Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton, who live in Mesa, Arizona, met in 2016. She accidentally sent a text message to his phone number and thought it was going to a family member, ABC 7. reported on tuesday.
When Hinton asked if he could still join him for dinner, Dench didn't flinch, telling the young man, “Of course you can.” That's what grandma does…feed everyone. ”
In a recent social media post, Hinton informed People liked their story of carrying on the tradition.
“I'm excited to announce that I'll be hosting Thanksgiving for Wanda and I this year! We're looking forward to a day filled with delicious food, great company, and everlasting memories. Coming up for our 9th year! It will be!” he wrote:
Breitbart News reported at the time that the pair honored Dench's late husband Ronnie when they got together for Thanksgiving in 2020.
Dench said, “I didn't want to take Thanksgiving off with Jamal. This year is definitely different than all the years in the past.”
A month ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but seems to have remained positive through her health journey.
“Through this experience, I learned many life lessons, but the one I would like to emphasize above all is that even though you are older, we still have a life to live. Get your medical checkup and continue living your life!'' Dench said.
Thanksgiving isn't the only time the two get together and enjoy each other's company. According to Breitbart News, the two treat each other like family and often enjoy eating out together.
“He literally changed my life and the way I look at the younger generation, about being open to friendship even with people you don't think you have anything in common with,” Dench said in 2022. Ta.
